More medical litigation in the news. A bill before the House of Representatives proposes limits on non-economic damages awarded to patients.

The bill H.R. 1215 is part of a package of proposed reforms that supplement the American Health Care Act, the House measure to replace the Affordable Care Act that was narrowly approved in May.

The congressional office anticipates the bill will lower health care costs by lowering liability premiums. If approved the bill would keep non-economic caps in States that have them in place and implement new non-economic caps in States that do not have them.
